2018 Skyscraper Competition:
eVolo Magazine is pleased to invite architects, students, engineers, designers, and artists from around the globe to take part in the 2018 Skyscraper Competition. Established in 2006, the annual Skyscraper Competition is one of the world’s most prestigious awards for high-rise architecture.
It is a forum that examines the relationship between the skyscraper and the natural world, the skyscraper and the community, and the skyscraper and the city.
Reimagine the Canals:
Today’s New York State Canal System is a 524-mile network comprised of the Erie Canal, the Oswego Canal, the Cayuga-Seneca Canal and the Champlain Canal. Constructed between 1905 and 1918 as the Barge Canal, the four branches of the Canal System are direct successors to the canals that New York State began building in 1817 and that established New York’s commercial primacy by connecting New York City to the Great Lakes and the American Midwest.
THE UNBELIEVABLE CHALLENGE 2017:
“Every year after Christmas Eve I’m left with a huge pile of extra gifts. So I decided to build an epic Winter Wonderland Outlet where I can make the gifts available for everyone. I’ve found a building for that but it needs some serious renovating. That’s where you come in. This is the Unbelievable Challenge 2017.”
PLAT 7.0 SHARING:
PLAT, Rice Architecture's independent student journal, is tickled to announce the open call for submissions for its next issue, 7.0, with the theme of SHARING. The Salvation Army first trademarked “sharing is caring” in the 1950s. PLAT questions if this phrase is still relevant today. If so, how? And regardless, what do the so-called sharing and platform economies mean for architecture and the built environment?

2017 Ruichang • L&A Design Star “Earth Roots Renascence” :
Competition project is located in Ruichang, Jiangxi. It is in the middle Yangtze River, and at the foot of the Lushan Mountain that is a famous scenic zone in China. Ruichang is a county-level city belonging to Jiujiang, located in the west part of the downtown. As the satellite town of Jiujiang city, there is expansive back-land to be developed in Ruichang, which offers ample development space for "Greater Jiujiang" regional economic society.
